And the journey begins...

The Republican Women's Forum will officially launch on Thursday, January 14th with a party at the Bodley Bullock House in Lexington. I am so excited for this night to come. During the 2008 Presidential election I had so many friends ask me how to get involved with the Republican Party. It was only two years ago that I got involved through the Fayette County Republican Women's Club, a group of amazing ladies who envisioned The Forum early last fall. Shortly after joining their club, I was asked to serve as Vice President over Programs and have been doing that since. In the middle of this, I was blessed with the opportunity to go to the Republican National Convention as an Alternate Delegate - something I dreamed of doing but never thought I'd get the opportunity to do until years and years down the road. It's amazing what happens when you start showing up!

Since this time, it's become so clear that young women just aren't very involved with the Party, even though I know they possess ideas of their own, conservative values, concern for their own future and that of their children, and a general interest in what's taking place in Lexington, Frankfort and Washington. The Party hasn't always provided clear opportunities for young women to be involved through activities that center around family involvement, or meetings and events that are easy for working women to attend. This is the foundation on which The Forum has been built.

Please check out our complete website and come join us on the 14th to learn more about The Forum and what all is involved in becoming a member. If you're a Republican, whether you call yourself "conservative" or "progressive" and you have an interest in educating yourself further, developing your leadership skills, growing a network for yourself of like-minded women, or one day running for office yourself - this is the place for you!
